Fall Classes Start September 8

Our fall season starts September 8, and registration is open now. If you have been waiting for the right time to try dance, this is it. The first weeks of a new season are when every class is learning the routine together, so a new dancer walks in with everyone else rather than joining something already in motion.

Dance Makers is a non-competitive studio in Virginia Beach. That means no auditions, no travel schedule, and no pressure to commit to a competition team. Classes are built around progress, confidence, and genuinely enjoying the hour.

What is on the fall schedule

Classes run weekday afternoons and evenings, with a set of daytime and Saturday morning options for families who need them.

  • Dance With Me, our parent and child class for ages 2 to 3, offered on a weekday morning and Saturday morning.
  • Ballet and Tap combo classes, grouped by age from 3 all the way through 11, so your dancer is with peers at a similar stage.
  • Jazz and Hip Hop combo classes for ages 6 to 9 and 9 to 13.
  • Tumbling for ages 3 to 5 and 6 to 9, plus Acro for ages 8 to 12.
  • Homeschool daytime classes for ages 3 to 5 and 7 to 11.
  • Adult classes, including tap, ballet barre workout, and hip hop and jazz, in five week sessions.

The full schedule with days, times, and tuition lives on our class pages, and you can download a printable version from any of them.

How to pick the right class

Start with age, not with style. Our classes are grouped by age because a 4 year old and an 8 year old need very different pacing, even in the same style. Once you know the age group, the choice gets simple:

  • Age 2 to 3: Dance With Me, where you are on the floor with your dancer the whole time.
  • Age 3 to 5: a Ballet and Tap combo is the standard first class. Add Tumbling if your child is the one climbing on everything at home.
  • Age 6 and up: Ballet and Tap builds the foundation, Jazz and Hip Hop is the high energy option, and plenty of dancers take both.
  • Not sure: book a free trial and let your dancer try before you decide.
You do not have to pick perfectly in September. It is much easier to move a dancer into the right class than to wait a whole year to start.

A few things worth doing before the 8th

  • Register early. Class sizes are capped on purpose, and the popular times fill first.
  • Sort out shoes ahead of the first class. If you are not sure what your class needs, ask us before you buy anything.
  • Put the first class on the calendar and plan to arrive five minutes early so your dancer can see the room before it starts.
  • Read our guide on what to expect at a first dance class if this is your dancer's first time.

Come try a class

Your first class is on us. Book a free trial, come see the studio, meet the teacher, and let your dancer decide with their feet. If you have questions about ages, levels, or which night works best, call or email and we will help you sort it out.
